ILRU / NCIL / APRIL: National Training & Technical Assistance Project

IL COACH

ILRU brings another benefit to centers for independent living and statewide independent living councils:  IL Coach, a service provided as part of the IL NET Project.

What is IL Coach?
IL Coach is a resource for centers and SILCs seeking the short-term technical assistance we so often need. That question about the Rehab Act. A personnel matter. Changes in regulations. Best practices. Maybe just some friendly advice.

Why do we need IL Coach?
Centers and SILCs are extraordinary organizations. Often we have small staffs with unique challenges and no one with whom we can talk. IL Coach is that peer with expertise who can point us in the right direction or help us find resources that meet our need.

What are some of the benefits of IL Coach?
IL Coach is new. The services offered by IL Coach will grow as new resources and channels of communication are discovered. Today, IL Coach's services include:

  • Telephone consultation: Get answers to those nagging every-day questions.
  • E-mail responses: Don't want to call? Send an e-mail message, and we'll get back in one work day.
  • The IL Technical Assistance Network: Learn how to use our computerized data base to find a peer who can help you.
  • The ILRU Library: Let us walk you through our library to locate documents and articles that meet your needs.
  • IL experts: IL Coach can link you to authorities in the field.
  • Active support: Concentrated on-site assistance for centers.

I'd love to have a coach. How much does IL Coach cost?
IL Coach is a free service to center and SILC staff and SILC members. It is a part of IL NET, an ILRU/NCIL partnership.

How can I access IL Coach?
Call (713-520-0232) or e-mail us (ilru@ilru.org and put IL Coach in the subject line), and we'll get back to you by the end of the next work day.
