Women’s Caucus Recommendations

1. That women with disabilities be involved at a decision making level in all aspects of the disability movement with equal representation of at least 50%.

2. That women and girl children with disabilities receive inclusionary education and training and have access to an international scholarship fund (yet to be established) which will enable them to have access to further educational opportunities.

3. That all Centres and Shelters for abused women work with mainstream women’s organizations to ensure these Centres and Shelters are barrier free and provide full access to all programs offered.

4. That all disability organizations represented at this forum work with Disabled Peoples International (DPI) Women’s Committee to develop and implement leadership training as well as education of disabled women and girl children to their rights NOT to be physically, sexually or psychologically abused.

5. That funding sources currently supporting grass roots disability organizations must develop a special emphasis to include women’s issues such as peer counseling and support.
