SEARCHABLE DATABASE
Searchable narrative information including progress
reports and plans submitted by
CILCs and SILCs as part of the Annual Report submitted to:
U.S. Department of Education
Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services
Rehabilitation Services Administration
Information from these federal reports has been
placed in a fully searchable text data base so that CILs and SILCs
may easily search for specific programs or activities conducted
by others.
The data base can help planners and managers get valuable planning
information from other CILs or SILCs already operating similar programs.
Using the data base can also facilitate interaction among organizations
conducting similar programs or projects, helping them strengthen
effectiveness by sharing ideas.
You can search every word of every 704 report in the data base.
Searchers may use any English language word or phrase to find the
information they seek.
How to Use the Fully Searchable Data Base
Go to the search field.
Enter a word or phrase which describes the activity for which you
want to search. Since you are searching every word of every
report, you can be quite specific in your search phrase. You'll
get a list of every CIL or SILC which has included the phrase in
their report, as well as similar words and phrases.
Look through the list which is displayed after the search is complete.
You'll see the paragraphs in which the phrase (or something similar)
was used.
When you find a passage which seems as if it will meet your needs,
select it. You'll then be able to scroll through the entire
narrative for that CIL or SILC.
After you've viewed the report, use the links to move to the next
report or to return to the search screen. You can search as
many reports as you wish.

Narrative information in the reports is as complete and accurate
as possible, although some formatting may have been lost as information
was imported into the data base. All information originally
submitted by the CIL or SILC has been retained. When electronic
copies of reports were not available, reports were scanned and converted
to text through the use of Optical Character Recognition technology.
Some errors or cosmetic problems may be apparent; however, the information
is provided "as is" given the importance of making information available
to as many CILs and SILCs as possible. As limited staff time
permits, such errors will be corrected and appearance will be improved.
Conversion to the data base was performed under the direction of
Dawn Heinsohn, Information
Specialist. This work was an activity of the IL NET, a collaborative
project of ILRU, Independent Living Research Utilization, and NCIL,
the National Council on Independent Living.
Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy and completeness
of data. Please contact ILRU with any questions, suggestions,
