Statewide Independent Living Councils across the country are a vital part of the Independent Living movement, and the 2008 SILC Congress is dedicated to providing sessions which specifically focus on SILCs and their unique role in IL service planning and implementation.  We encourage sessions that feature SILC-to-SILC mentorship strategies as well as constructive methods to facilitate positive working relationships with SILCs’ IL partners.

All sessions must directly relate to SILC operations and provide action steps that participants can readily incorporate into their state’s IL plans.

The goals of the 2008 SILC Congress are:

  1. Orientation for new SILC participants in pre-conference sessions
  2. Developing Measurement Tools for SILC Outcomes
  3. Fundamentals of IL Collaboration & Mentoring
  4. Running Your SILC: A to Z

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
