Mobilizing Resources for Independent Living

Presented by the IL NET of Independent Living Research Utilization (ILRU), a program of TIRR, Houston, Texas
The IL NET is operated in partnership with NCIL.

NEW REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Friday, January 27, 2006
DATE: February 15 - 17, 2006
WHERE: New Orleans, Louisiana

SPECIAL OFFER: Richard will provide advice and individualized "coaching" during the training as well as for a 90 day period after the training to help ensure success

PURPOSE: If you think your CIL or SILC is forever doomed to dependency on public dollars, join this critical training workshop to separate the myths from the realities of raising dollars. Sure, Hurricane Katrina has siphoned billions
of government dollars and hundreds of millions of private resources to support the victims of this disaster; however, private foundations, corporations, churches and individuals donate over $250 billion per year to nonprofit organizations. There IS money for your CIL and SILC and there are smart and strategic ways to locate, secure, and administer it. This workshop will give you the practical and tactical tools to develop a step-by-step strategic fundraising plan to bring in NEW dollars for your efforts.

TARGET AUDIENCE: This seminar will help staff, board members, and volunteers with minimal or moderate experience in resource development to gain the information, mindset, and buy-in necessary to increase their fundraising success. SPECIAL OFFER: Richard will provide advice and individualized "coaching" during the training as well as for a 90-day period after the training to help ensure success!

OBJECTIVES: Capitalize on current funding trends among private foundations, corporations, philanthropic trusts, religious, government, and individual donors;

  • Establish relationships with funders PRIOR to asking for the money;
  • Develop fundraising strategies for new CILS and for CILS with annual budgets less than $750,000;
  • Obtain funding needed for transitioning individuals from a nursing home to their own home in the community; and,
  • Bring unrestricted dollars into your organization.
    ADDITIONAL TOPICS:
  • Funding trends across the country in the government, foundation, corporate, religious and donor world;
  • Integrating marketing and public relations into your fundraising strategies that "position" your organization for success;
  • Elements of an overall three year resource development strategy;
  • Advantages and disadvantages of specific funding sources and the timing patterns of each;
  • 8 step strategic approach to winning grant dollars from private foundations;
  • Where are the best and biggest donors in your community and approaches to access them; and,
  • Realistic approaches to accessing the faith-based and religious dollars.
