Human Resource Practices, IT in the Work Place

ABSTRACT

As Internet use becomes more pervasive in businesses, its impact on human resources applications such as recruitment, pre-employment screening, benefits, and training applications has grown exponentially. The Internet has become the most effective way for broad dissemination of information about the availability of jobs and people. Millions of jobs and resumes are available online, however, individuals with disabilities have not experienced the same growth in computer and Internet use. This presentation will provide information on current Web accessibility issues for job applicants and employees with disabilities and point to existing national resources on IT accessibility. In addition, the implications for the provision of information and technical assistance services by CILs will be discussed.
