Smart Disability-Related Employment Policies

About the Presenter

James Passamano is a partner in the Houston law firm of Sufian & Passamano, L.L.P. Before establishing the firm, James was a Senior trial Attorney for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and served as a judicial clerk for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas in Houston.

In addition to practicing law, Jim is an adjunct professor of law at South Texas College of Law teaching the Americans with Disabilities Act and European Union Law. He has also served as an adjunct professor of legal writing and research at the University of Houston Law Center, and he has served as an adjunct professor of political science and sociology at Rice University.

James has written several books and articles on legal topics, most recently: Representing ADA Plaintiffs, by James A. Passamano and Beth S. Sufian (James Publishing, Costa Mesa, California January 2003) and A Clinician’s Guide to the Legal Rights of People with Cystic Fibrosis, by Beth Sufian, James Passamano and Suzanne Pattee (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, September 2002).

In 1999, he received a degree in law with honors from Cambridge University in England. He received a Doctor of Law degree in 1990 from South Texas College of Law in Houston, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He also attended the University of Texas School of Law while serving as a judicial intern at the Texas Supreme Court in Austin.
