About the Presenters

Steven Towle serves as the President of the Spinal Cord Injury Network of the Metropolitan Washington Area, a chapter of NSCIA. Towle has served as the NSCIA Vice President for Chapters from 1997 until 2003, and VP for membership from 2003-2004. He is the Washington Liaison for the National Association on Alcohol, Drugs & Disability, a Commissioner on the Montgomery County MD Commission on People with Disabilities and an active member of the newly formed Spinal Cord Injury Consortium of the Greater Washington DC Area and the immediate past chairperson of the MD Statewide IL Council. Active in National ADAPT, Steve is a founder of Capital Area ADAPT .A long-time disability rights activist, Steve retired from the Air Force after a spinal cord injury in 1974.

Thilo Kroll, PhD is a Senior Research Associate at the NRH Center for Health and Disability Research in Washington, DC. His work focuses on Access to Health Care, Community Integration, and Health Promotion issues for people with disabilities. Specifically, he is interested in applying mixed method approaches that combine quantitative and qualitative methods in disability, public health, and rehabilitation research.
