Federal Grant Holders Guide to Understanding Financial & Administrative Regulations

Part I — June 13, 2005 (3:00pm - 4:30pm Eastern)
Part II — June 15, 2005 (3:00pm - 4:30pm Eastern)

The EDGAR (Education Department’s General Administrative Regulations) is a regulatory document hundreds of pages long. When combined with the financial regulations of the Office of Management and Budget, and the specific requirements of the Rehab Act, it becomes virtually impossible for any one person to ensure that your non-profit organization is compliant.

So, IL NET is offering a two-part teleconference and webcast to provide succinct explanations of the most important financial and administrative requirements facing non-profit organizations holding Federal grants.

Please join us in June to:

  • Learn how EDGAR, OMB regulations, and the Rehab Act apply to your organization’s daily operations;
  • Increase your knowledge of some of EDGAR’s most often misunderstood provisions;
  • Increase your administrative efficiency through increased knowledge of EDGAR provisions; and
  • Find out how to comply with Federal requirements before mistakes are discovered during RSA on-site monitoring or an independent audit.

Who Should Attend:
Executive Directors, Accountants, and key staff members of Centers for Independent Living and Statewide Independent Living Councils that receive federal grant money, especially from the Dep’t of Education.

The mission of the IL NET is to provide training and technical assistance on a variety of issues central to independent living today--understanding the Rehab Act, what the statewide independent living council is and how it can operate most effectively, management issues for centers for independent living, systems advocacy, computer networking, and others. Training activities are conducted conference-style, via long-distance communication, webcasts, through widely disseminated print and audio materials, and through the promotion of a strong national network of centers and individuals in the independent living field.

Substantial support for development of this publication was provided by the Rehabilitation Services Administration, U.S. Department of Education. The content is the responsibility of ILRU and no official endorsement of the Department of Education should be inferred.

ILRU is a program of TIRR (The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research), a nationally recognized medical rehabilitation facility for persons with disabilities.
