Recent Guidance and Determinations in ADA Transportation: What are the Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration Saying?

Abstract

This webcast is the first in a series of five monthly webcasts on ADA Transportation featuring Marilyn Golden of the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF).

This initial webcast will summarize the most recent regulatory and guidance documents, plus other important determinations, on ADA transportation from the US Department of Transportation (DOT) and its modal administration, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). These will include:

  • DOT guidance on paratransit door-to-door service
  • DOT proposed regulation on modification of policies, practices, and procedures
  • DOT proposed regulation on level boarding on rail platforms
  • FTA determinations on paratransit telephone hold time
  • DOT guidance on paratransit in rural (“5311”) systems
  • FTA guidance on premium services in paratransit
  • DOT guidance on Segways
  • FTA determinations regarding paratransit on-time performance and no-shows (These will be explained in more detail in the second ADA Transportation webcast on January 30)
