Employer Best Practices in Employing People with Disabilities

Abstract

Despite almost two decades since the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act, people with disabilities still are under-employed, compared to their non-disabled peers.  The purpose of this Webinar is to examine workplace factors which may contribute to ongoing barriers in the successful hiring and retention of employees with disabilities, as well as their career advancement.  Cornell University researchers will discuss workplace factors that contribute to successful accommodation for people with disabilities, such as co-worker acceptance, supervisor relations, responsiveness to accommodation requests, corporate and community resources used in making accommodations, presence of affinity groups, and overall climate of workplace fairness.
