The Administration for Community Living (ACL) awarded a supplemental grant in the amount of $60,000 to the National Ombudsman Resource Center (NORC) to address a number of emerging issues. NORC provides significant training, technical assistance and program management expertise for state and local long-term care ombudsman (LTCO) programs.

The National Aging and Disability Transportation Center invites applications for a grant opportunity to support program innovations and approaches that increase accessible transportation options for older adults and people with disabilities living in the community and maximize the utilization of Section 5310 and other federal funding investments. Transportation is central to living independently, but nearly a third of people with disabilities do not have adequate access. 

Current research has shown potential benefits of robotics and automation for independent travel and mobility for people with disabilities. Fully autonomous vehicles are expected to dramatically improve mobility and research and development of this exciting idea is underway in both the public and private sector.  Even less dramatic technology is expected to have a tremendous impact.
