Disability Information and Access Line (DIAL)

USAging’s Disability Information and Access Line (DIAL) funded by the U.S. Administration for Community Living and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, assists people with disabilities get vaccinated by providing assistance finding COVID-19 vaccination sites, determining whether in-home vaccination is available, educating callers about general COVID-19 vaccine information, and finding ways to help overcome both physical and systemic barriers to accessing the COVID-19 vaccine. DIAL also helps people with disabilities identify, locate, and access community services and supports.

Improving equitable access to vaccines is a vital step toward helping people with disabilities protect themselves from the most severe impacts of COVID-19. To support people with disabilities during the pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Administration for Community Living (ACL) launched the Disability Information and Access Line (DIAL), with the support of ILRU and other partners from within the disability community. DIAL, a first-of-its-kind national call center, supports people with disabilities and their families who are seeking information, assistance and resources that can help them make informed decisions about and receive access to COVID-19 vaccines that are available in their communities. DIAL is a much-needed resource that people with disabilities can use to stay healthy during the pandemic. When needed, DIAL can also refer people with disabilities to state and/or local information and programs for additional supportive services that promote independent living, including inquiries related to home care, food, housing, transportation, and a need for advocacy or peer counseling that may arise due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
