About the Training

This training is perfect for Statewide Independent Living Council staff and council members who want to take their SILC to the next level! Participants will learn who SILCs should be working with, how to create effective partnerships, and how to create a strong IL network in your state. The presenters cover required partnerships, as well as strategic partnerships for particular goals and initiatives. You'll even learn which partnerships your SILC may want to avoid. This training provides the information and resources your SILC needs to get the most out of strategic partnerships at the local, state, and national levels.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this presentation, participants will be able to describe:

  • statutory requirements related to developing and strengthening working relationships with public and private entities, including disability organizations;
  • the importance of developing IL networks into strong, cohesive partnerships that serve as a springboard to shared goals;
  • effective practices to create strategic partnerships and networking through real life examples and maximizing limited resources; and
  • organizations that can be critical partners for SILCs and the IL network to strengthen services and effect systems change.
