Desmeon Thomas

Desmeon is an Independent Living Specialist at Living Independence for Everyone (LIFE). He was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and is a Disability Advocate. Desmeon was paralyzed at the age of 19 due to a gunshot wound to the face during an armed robbery attempt. Since his injury in 2002, Desmeon has served as an AmeriCorps member for Project Linc for 2 consecutive years. Desmeon has served on several Boards and Committees locally and nationally such as Healthy Opportunities for Transition’s Youth Advisory Council from 2005-Present, My Voice My Choice Advisory Council from 2003-2011, National Youth Leadership Network from 2004-2006 and National Council on Disabilities from 2004-2005 just to name a few. Desmeon has been an Advocate for over 8 years making sure that people with disabilities are empowered and accommodated in their homes and communities.
