Michelle Schwartz

Michelle "Shell" Schwartz, M.A. holds a graduate degree in Psychology and is Manager with Disability Services ASAP (A Safety Awareness Program) of SafePlace in Austin, Texas. Michelle gained early experience in community psychology in private and state run counseling, behavioral health, and mental health organizations.  Michelle speaks nationally on issues of victimization of people with disabilities and more recently co-authored “Balancing the Power, Creating a Crisis Center Accessible to People with Disabilities” and “Beyond Labels: Working with Abuse Survivors with Mental Illness and Symptoms of Substance Abuse Issues.”  Michelle’s professional work is informed by over 20 years of professional and personal experiences advocating for the rights to treatment and access to victim services for people with disabilities.
