Community‑engaged research (CEnR) strengthens evidence‑based medical rehabilitation by positioning people with lived experience as coequal partners in generating relevant, rigorous, and sustainable research.

Despite growing federal expectations for meaningful engagement, most researchers and practitioners lack training to collaborate authentically with disabled people and caregivers. Structural and institutional barriers further limit the adoption of CEnR.

The ENGAGED Center is an NIH-Funded Medical Rehabilitation Research and Resource Center (P50HD118631) designed to respond to this need through capacity‑building initiatives and original research.

During this webinar, we will highlight:

  • the value of rigorous CEnR to rehabilitation and disability research
  • our capacity building initiatives, including curated Knowledge Hub, Community of Practice, Disability Community Scientist Training, and a Pilot Funding program.

Together, these efforts equip rehabilitation researchers to build equitable partnerships and advance impactful, disability‑centered research.
