You have been asked to participate in a research study. You must be age 21 or older to participate. The purpose of this study is to understand the satisfaction level in personal assistance services, and to compare the perceived importance of different personal assistance service areas among consumers with disabilities. The goal of this study is to provide additional information for personal assistance service providers and to enhance the quality of personal assistance services. This study involves online survey only have 10 questions and will take about 5 minutes to complete.

Every year the conference receives numerous requests for financial support so that participants and family members can attend our conference. This year is no exception.

In response to these requests, they are offering a “Sponsor a Participant” option where sponsorship will cover conference meals and provide a travel stipend for a participant or family member to attend the conference. Applied Self-Direction will waive the conference registration fee for participants and family members receiving the sponsorship.

Each semester, the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) hosts up to 2 internship positions at our office in Washington, DC. The Policy Internship Program provides real Washington policy experience to participants at a highly respected national organization. Interns gain valuable experience in the nation’s capital and build skills necessary to be ideal candidates for positions at NCIL, CILs, and other advocacy organizations around the country.

Falls and Fear of Falling in Adults who Require Wheelchairs for Locomotion Study

To participate you must be an adult who:

  • Is at least 18 years old
  • Has a neurological diagnosis (such as but not limited to post-polio syndrome, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis) for at least 6 months.
  • Use a wheelchair (manual or power) at least 75% of your mobility time inside your home and 100% of the time outside your home.
  • Has a computer with internet access.
