About the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) Development RapidCourse Series

Courses in the series include:

  • Statutory Basis and Purpose of the SPIL
    Provides an overview of good practices for developing a State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) in collaboration with the Designated State Unit (DSU) and other agencies. This course will be especially useful for SILC members in helping them understand requirements for the SPIL.
  • Developing an Outcomes-Focused SPIL
    Provides you with a three-step approach to developing an outcomes-focused SPIL. This course will help you organize your approach to developing your SPIL, providing guidance for defining and measuring outcomes that makes sense for your state and translating them into an effective SPIL. This course serves as a pre-requisite for Evaluating Your Outcomes-Focused SPIL.
  • Evaluating Your Outcomes-Focused SPIL
    Provides you with the process of evaluating your SPIL on an on-going basis using a three-pronged approach. This course should be taken after completing Developing an Outcomes-Focused SPIL.
